I must be getting old. I don't ever remember thinking about the weather so much. This winter has been weird all over. We've only had a little snow (less than normal), but we had those super cold temps and windstorms and such (and bracing for another rain storm tomorrow). Today it is "wall to wall" blue sky and sixty-five degrees. Quite nice.
So, I was thinking about hibernating. Yeah. I may not be a bear, but I surely feel like I am sleeping more on these cold winter days. How about you? I can't wait for summer weather--or at least spring (like today!). I know, I know, I need to suffer through the ick so I can appreciate spring. I get it. But I am really feeling like I need a tropical IV. Just a slow drip for a few days to get me over the winter blahs.
Hibernation. We know bears do it. Bullfrogs, hamsters, turtles hibernate to some extent. Which mythological creatures might hibernate? Dragons? Yeah, most definitely those in cold climates. Doonongaeses hibernate (Doonongaeses are North American water monsters). Michabo (one of the Algonquin Indian gods) smokes a pipe when he is getting ready to hibernate--and the smoke puffs create the winter storm clouds. The kraken hibernates (thank goodness), too.
Have you read a book that took advantage of a character hibernating? A shifter book, maybe? A mythological book? I don't think I ever have read one where we see hibernation. Not that I can recall.
But if it would make for a good weight loss program--I'm up for hibernation. The newest diet craze...
stay warm!
